Since some trees cannot get their roots deep into the ground, it is not unusual for them to spread out.
There are so many plants with such pretty flowers. To make a path, they sometimes use shells rather than gravel. Interesting place, huh?

I remember seeing trees with root systems like this in Hawaii - always fun to look at.
