The African American Quilters

This is the 16th year this group has shown their quilts and I always look forward to seeing them. At least some of these quilters attend a learning center and take quilt classes there. This year they made huge Scotty Dogs which were in the front windows of the library. These were the only two inside where I could photograph them. I've never seen such large dogs on a quilt and they really were striking.

The top dog is titled "Psychedelic Dog" and was made by Diana.

The second dog quit is named SPOT and was made by Ida Jackson. She also made the Sunbonnet Sue Quilt. Posted by Picasa

what wonderufl dogs! I had to take a second look, as at first I thought they were just smaller blocks, but there they are -- a whole quilt as one big dog...
