Astronaut/Teacher

I am dedicating my quilt to Barbara Morgan. What a great role model for young women. Over 22 years ago, she was a teacher and campaigned to be the "teacher in space". She became the backup to Christa McAuliffe. After the space disaster that killed the crew of Apollo, she returned to teaching. Nine years ago, she took another route to reach her dream. She became a professional astronaut. In August 2007, at age 55, she traveled to the ISS on Endeavour to use both her careers.

Wasn't that the Challenger? Or maybe my memory is foggy. So long ago!
